Center Reopening
The Town of Abingdon is pleased to announce the phased
reopening of the Coomes Recreation Center on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. The
plan to gradually reopen allows the center to provide a basic level of service,
maintain health standards to prevent the spread of COVID-19 while being mindful
of overall economic balance as we continue to recover from the financial impact
of the pandemic.
The first phase of
reopening will allow members and visitors to utilize the main areas of the
building including the cardio suite, spin bike area, weight rooms, indoor
walking track, and gymnasium during reduced hours Monday through Saturday. State and local guidelines MUST be followed
in order to access the center to safely utilize the services provided. This
phase will not include the use of the indoor pool and locker rooms. We will find
balance in both the health of our community and the continued financial well-being
of the Town prior to moving into the second phase, which is expected to be sometime
during the winter months. Below are the hours and holiday schedule for the
first phase reopening that will be effective through at least December 31,
2020.
