I-81 Exit 17 Northbound Off-Ramp - Partial Closure

On Wednesday, August 26th, from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM, utility work will require a partial lane closure on the Interstate 81 Northbound Off-Ramp at Exit 17. Motorists can still use the exit, but the lane width will be restricted. Please use caution for the safety of yourself and the utility workers. Thank you!

WASHINGTON COUNTY, VA ANNOUNCES ROUND TWO

OF THE SMALL BUSINESS RELIEF GRANT IS NOW

ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

113 Small Businesses in Washington County

Received Over $1.5 Million in Round One

 

ABINGDON, VA: Washington County, VA announces the Second Round of the Small Business Relief Grant. In Round One, more than $1.5 million were disseminated to 113 Small Businesses located in Washington County, including the Towns of Abingdon, Damascus, and Glade Spring.

These funds were received by the County allocations by the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.  Existing businesses located in Washington County, Virginia, including the Towns of Abingdon, Damascus, and Glade Spring, that have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 Crisis and that meet other criteria as provided in this application packet are eligible to apply. Grants will be awarded in amounts ranging from $1,000 to $20,000, depending upon the number of applications filed and the nature of loss and need described in each application. Deadline for this round of applications is set for September 15, 2020.

“We are so happy to be able to help our local businesses with federal CARES Act funds”, says Dwayne Ball, Chairman of the Washington County Board of Supervisors.  “It’s our hope this grant will allow local business to keep their doors open and serving our citizens.”

TRAFFIC ADVISORY:

 From approximately 9:00 PM, Tuesday, August 11, 2020, through 2:00 AM, Wednesday, August 12, 2020, a utility contractor will be working on Cummings Street in the vicinity of the I-81 Exit 17 interchange (weather permitting). Cummings Street traffic will be open in both directions, but there will be lane diversions in place. Please use caution when driving through the work zone, or choose an alternate route.
