Scoop the Poop from your Pooch!

The Town has installed several new Dog Waste Removal Stations along the Urban Pathway. We have been receiving reports that people are not picking up dog deposits throughout the town and along high-traffic pedestrian areas. We want to remind everyone that per town ordinance (10-51), “Any person who is the owner, possessor, or custodian of any animal shall immediately collect, remove and dispose of all feces left by such animal on any public property or any private property not owned and/or lawfully occupied by such person.”- in other words, please scoop the poop!

When walking your pet, always carry plastic bags or grab one from the removal stations. Use a bag to pick up dog waste, tie the bag closed, and throw it in the trash. No one wants to step in dog poop, and it is a risk to the health of the community. Do your “doody,” and clean up after your pet!

Small Business Spotlight- Abingdon Adventures

🌟Small Business Spotlight🌟
With the rise in outdoor recreation and the growth of the Virginia Creeper Trail, we are excited to announce that Abingdon has a new outfitter.
Abingdon Adventures
opened last week at 306 Depot Square in the historical Train Depot downtown, right next to the red caboose. They have a selection of e-bicycles, outdoor gear, apparel, hiking and running shoes, souvenirs, and much more. While you are checking out the Abingdon souvenirs, pop into the room full of maps and books that overlooks the train tracks, you may even catch the train rolling through during your visit. Their store hours are every day from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
While visiting for the spotlight, we fell in love with the Virginia Creeper Trail and Abingdon apparel. The t-shirts are soft and lightweight, perfect to wear while riding the trail on a cool spring day.
Thank you to the Wright family for expanding their outdoor adventure business to Abingdon! 🚴🥾👕
