Update on Sports Complex August 2021

TOWN OF ABINGDON

133 WEST MAIN STREET · P. O. BOX 789 · ABINGDON, VIRGINIA · 24212

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Update on Sports Complex

We are rounding second base and headed to third base with the Town of Abingdon Sports Complex. Things are moving right along and these pictures show lots of progress from the last update.

Construction of the concession stand and maintenance building continues, concrete curb and gutter installation continue for the parking lot areas, and the asphalt work continues for the north parking lot. Street lights are being installed in the north parking lot area. Contractors are continuing grade work in several areas of the project, and fencing work throughout the site. Sod has been placed on the baseball fields and one of the multi-purpose fields, with base and root zones being ready for sod installation at the beginning of August for the rest of the fields.

The sound of bats pinging will be here real soon!
