PUBLIC NOTICE
TRAFFIC CONTROL CHANGE – MEADE DRIVE AND VIRGINIA CREEPER TRAIL
During the
week of May 17-21, 2021, the Town of Abingdon will be changing the traffic
control configuration at the intersection of Meade Drive and the Virginia
Creeper Trail.
In order to
be consistent with other trail/roadway crossings, and to be compliant with the
Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Manual of Uniform Traffic Control
Devices, the existing traffic signal will be removed and replaced with a STOP
sign control for trail users. The vehicular traffic on Meade Drive will no
longer have to stop at the intersection unless a trail user is
already in the crosswalk.
